In July 2018 on behalf of JV-Consultancies, Mr. Joost G.H. Vermeulen, has been selected as International Technical Advisor (ITA) for the Inclusive Value Chain Development within the TRIGGER project of the Aga Kahn Foundation (AKF) in Tajikistan.

During the months of August and September 2018 Mr. Vermeulen implemented this assignment in Tajikistan, supporting the TRIGGER-staff of MSDSP with mapping and analysing seven targeted value chains: seed/cons. potatoes, rice, tomato, apple, apricot and milk; and strengthening the capacity of project staff to carry out these activities in the future.

Hereby the following 4 tasks were executed:
(1) Based upon a desk study on forehand a work plan was designed to complete all required consultancy tasks;
(2) Capacity gaps identified among MSDSP staff, and market analysis conducted during field observations and meetings with project partners and relevant value chain actors;
(3) A final presentation conducted before departure for MSDSP/AKF staff and donor representatives, highlighting the key findings and recommendations from the consultancy;
(4) A concise consultancy report written that outlines opportunities and challenges to promote inclusive value chain development in the selected sectors and geographies and provides a strategic plan, especially for seed potatoes, for the next phase of the TRIGGER project.
